The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is excited to launch the official registration for the 2019 Georgia Suicide Prevention Conference, September 23-25, 2019 in Pine Mountain, GA. The conference theme is Connect, Communicate, Care. We wanted to extend a special invitation for you to register as this event is anticipated to reach capacity before the registration deadline. The goal of the 2019 Georgia Suicide Prevention Conference is to provide a forum for supportive learning to those who share an interest in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.

 The primary objectives for the 2019 Georgia Suicide Prevention Conference are for participants to be able to:

  1. Identify ways to advance suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention in Georgia in collaboration and coordination with other stakeholders.
  2. Identify and develop strategies to implement interventions and address gaps in suicide prevention, in a variety of settings, including schools, colleges and universities, and jurisdictions with high burden of deaths by suicide.
  3. Learn how to apply suicide prevention best practices to manage suicide ideation and suicide behaviors.

This training is for anyone who would like to be prepared to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. With rising rates of suicide in our communities, this is important for all of us. As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:

  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life
