CIT Advocacy Training in Albany January 29

The City of Valdosta will be hosting a public forum for Community Development Block Grant funding on January 15 @ 2 p.m. If you are able to attend please email Anetra Riley ariley@valdostacity.com and let her know that you plan to attend.

In May 2020, the City of Valdosta will be completing its FY2020-2024 Consolidated Plan for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, for which the City has been an entitlement community since 2004. Every five years, the City must complete this plan to outline the needs and priorities for their upcoming yearly entitlement allotments geared toward the low-moderate income populations residing within the Designated Revitalization Area (DRA).

For the last five years, our Mayor and City Council have dedicated a large portion of our yearly allotments to assisting the City in the goal of eliminating substandard housing by the year 2020. Although we have made great strides in the past toward this goal, we have found that housing is only one area we must tackle to revitalize Valdosta. Community building and economic development must also be addressed to aid in creating an accurate revitalization plan.

Thus, we would like to invite you to our Consolidated Plan Public Forum on Wednesday, January 15, at 2 pm in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 North Lee Street. JQUAD Planning Group have been contracted to complete our plan, and would appreciate your opinions and expertise to gain a true picture of what revitalization in Valdosta would really look like moving forward. Please RSVP via email to this invitation. Light refreshments will be provided
