Foster & Non Biological Parents

Foster Parents needed by DFCS

The DFCS- Resource Development Team serves 22 counties around Lowndes and uses a family-centered approach. They are always looking for foster parents for special needs and grief-stricken children. Persons interested must complete a 23 hour IMPACT class to certify them as a possible foster placement as well as having their home approved. There is an annual 15 hours of continuing education. There also is a foster parent/ partnership parenting relationship in which the foster parent helps to teach the
families of the children how to parent. Families can foster the children as a permanent placement, willing to adopt and/or as an emergency placement until a better placement is found. The first attempt always is to place children with relatives. Counseling is provided to families through a contract agency in Atlanta.  Contact Eltina Baker.
